German minister, on U.S. trip, urges dialogue with Russia

BERLIN (Reuters) – German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who’s travelling to Washington to satisfy U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday, stated she would reaffirm the significance of dialogue with Russia to forestall battle over Ukraine.

“With regard to Russia, the frequent message from Europeans and the U.S. authorities is obvious: Russian actions come with a transparent price ticket, and the one approach out of the disaster is thru dialogue,” Baerbock stated in an announcement.

“We are getting into a decisive section through which essential talks at completely different ranges are imminent. And even when the codecs of the talks fluctuate, our messages as transatlantic companions to the federal government in Moscow are all the time the identical.”

Alarmed by Russia’s army build-up alongside Ukraine’s border, U.S. and Russian officers are attributable to maintain safety talks on Jan. 10 in Geneva and NATO has scheduled a gathering of allied ambassadors and high Russian officers for Jan. 12.
