KUALA LUMPUR: Glove stocks were among the top gainers in late morning trade on Wednesday amid the high Covid-19 infection rates in the country and also globally.

At 10.51am, Hartalega was up 27 sen to RM7.85, Adventa and Supermax 24 sen each to RM2.04 and RM3.63 while Careplus jumped 18 sen to RM2.15.

On Tuesday, it was reported there were 12,366 fresh infections in the country while the death toll was 93 cases as Malaysia pushed for more vaccination to reach herd immunity.

A total of 15,071,814 doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Malaysia as of Tuesday.

According to figures put out by the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) on its Twitter account on Wednesday (July 21), a total of 10,301,905 people (or 44% of the adult population) have received their first dose while 4,769,909 (or 20.4% of the adult population) had both doses.

Reuters reported rising Covid-19 infections have rocked global markets this week as investors dumped risk assets, seeking stability in safe haven assets like bonds.
