PETALING JAYA: National No. 1 golfer Gavin Green has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics next month.
The 27-year-old Gavin is set for his second successive Games appearance after making the top 60 cut in the International Golf Federation (IGF) men’s Olympic Golf Ranking.
The qualification was today and Gavin came in at No. 58.
Gavin will be up against a stellar field that includes the likes of recently-crowned US Open champion and world No. 1 Jon Rahm of Spain, No. 3 Justin Thomas of the United States, Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and home favourite Hideki Matsuyama at the Kasumigaseki Country Club from July 29-Aug 1.
In his debut in Rio five years ago, Gavin finished 47th.
