PETALING JAYA: The Federation of Livestock Farmers Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM) has known as on the federal government to provide a subsidy of eight sen per chicken egg amid rising prices.
It mentioned the subsidy was to assist maintain the egg farming business and guarantee nationwide meals safety.
“In view of the rising production costs, which include the poultry feed, raw materials, transportation and issues over labour shortage, we request for a subsidy assistance of eight sen per egg,” it mentioned in a press release on Friday (July 8).
The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry had introduced the managed farm value for Grade A chicken eggs at 41sen, Grade B (39sen) and Grade C (37sen), whereas the ceiling value was mounted at 45sen, 43sen and 41sen respectively.
FLFAM additionally thanked the Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry for understanding the chicken farmers’ plight.
