BUTTERWORTH: A helmet manufacturing factory was ordered to shut down after it was found to be operating illegally during lockdown.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the factory was also compounded RM10,000 during an operation involving various agencies, including the police.

“The company produced International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) letter stating that it manufactured facemasks and personal protective equipment.

“But the truth is that it only manufactures helmets, which are not in the list of essential items,” he told reporters after the inspection.

Other agencies involved in the operation were Human Resources Ministry, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, Seberang Prai City Council and the state Health Department.
