PETALING JAYA: First it was just Hospital Sungai Buloh.
But as deaths due to Covid-19 continue rising at a high rate, now Hospital Selayang is also using a special container to store the bodies of dead patients.
The Health Ministry said that the container for the Forensics Department of the hospital can store an additional 20 bodies as the mortuary there was always full.
“Deaths due to Covid-19 in the country are increasing day by day, especially in the Klang Valley,” it said in a Facebook post on Thursday (May 27).
A total of 2,491 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
A total of 471 deaths or 19% occurred last year, while this year alone, 2020 or 81% of the deaths were recorded.
