Indonesia is just not a secular state. Atheism is unacceptable – technically you might want to observe one of six prescribed religions. So it’s a multi-religious state with an official ideology, Pancasila, which prioritises no religion over every other. That was Indonesia’s post-independence chief Sukarno’s thought, to discourage massive elements of the archipelago the place Muslims will not be a majority from breaking away.
