Ismail Sabri: 113 factories ordered to close during lockdown

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 113 factories have been ordered to close during the lockdown for flouting Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister (Security) said between June 1 and June 19, the compliance operation task force inspected 510 factories.

“A total of 113 factories have been issued instructions to close. Cumulatively, 2,123 factories and 22,819 business premises have been inspected since Jan 14 and overall, 167 factories and 17 premises have been ordered to close,” he said in a statement on Sunday (June 20).

He added that the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry also conducted 33,010 inspections from June 1 until June 19.

“On Saturday (June 19), 2,027 checks were conducted and 12 compound notices were issued to the operators of business premises who failed to adhere to the SOP,” he said.
