KUALA LUMPUR: Authorities detained 417 people for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) on Friday (July 9), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Deputy Prime Minister said compound notices were issued to 408 people while nine others were remanded.

“Among the top offences is illegally crossing district and state borders, dining in, not wearing face masks and not maintaining physical distancing.

“The compliance operation task force conducted 85,123 inspections nationwide on Friday,” he said in a statement on Saturday (July 10).

On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said an undocumented migrant was detained, while two land vehicles and two boats were seized on Friday.

“A total of 950 roadblocks were conducted nationwide,” he added.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said 766 individuals arrived in Malaysia on Friday and they were placed under mandatory quarantine.

“Cumulatively, 245,706 individuals have returned to the country since July 24 last year.

“9,481 people are still undergoing quarantine, 233,155 have been discharged while 3,070 were sent to hospitals for treatment,” he said.
