PETALING JAYA: People should not try to sneak back to their hometowns for Hari Raya Aidiladha, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“The government advises the people not to sneak back to their hometowns and continue to stay at home so as not to be infected, or not to infect others,” he said
“The authorities have been warned to be prepared for an increase in vehicles trying to cross state borders without permission in conjunction with Hari Raya Haji on Tuesday (July 20),” added Ismail Sabri.
He also said that the National Security Council had agreed to place localities in Sabah, Perak, Kelantan and one area in Sarawak under an enhanced movement control order from July 20 to Aug 2 due to a surge in cases.
In Sabah, the places are Kampung Long Kiangan, Kampung Ranau-rana, Kampung Solob and Kampung Tunas Baru in Sipitang, four villages in Mukim Likas, as well as Kampung Muhibbah in Beaufort and Ladang Agathis in Kalabakan.
Aside from this, Kampung Dandulit Matunggong, Kampung Bakalau and Kampung Nosoob are also under EMCO.
In Perak, the localities placed under an EMCO are Taman Melor Fasa 1 in Hilir Perak, two localities in Mukim Batu Kurau, 10 localities in Mukim Batang Padang and three other localities in Mukim Bidor.
In Kelantan, two localities in Mukim Bukit Jawa, as well as Kampung Lepah and Kampung Alor Hijau in Pasir Puteh have been placed under a two-week EMCO from July 20.
Additionally, Kampung Emperoh Nyiru Grait in Kuching, Sarawak has been placed under a two week EMCO from July 20.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also announced the end of the EMCO for several areas.

“The NSC has also agreed to end the EMCO for Kampung Jambatan Baru in Membakut and Blok 6 in Kampung Titingan in Tawau,” said Ismail Sabri.
He added that the EMCO on Ladang Lepan Kabu (A&B) quarters and a part of Kampung Pahi in Kuala Krai, Kelantan; CLQ Gamuda Garden in Kundang Jaya of Rawang, Selangor; Mukim Batang Padang and Mukim Bidor, Perak will also end on July 19.
He also said that as of the past 24 hours, 62 businesses and construction premises were ordered closed, and 441 were arrested over SOP violations.
Ismail Sabri also stated that the enforcement at the nation’s borders continues with roadblocks in various places.
He also said in his statement that the disinfection of premises and monitoring of essential goods continue to be done by the relevant ministries.
