PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob might be Umno’s prime minister candidate within the upcoming fifteenth General Election, says occasion secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
The Pontian MP mentioned this was a unanimous resolution made by the Umno supreme council following a gathering on Thursday night (April 14).
“The Umno supreme council unanimously proposed for Ismail Sabri as its prime minister candidate for the coming 15th General Election,” he mentioned in a press release.
Ahmad additionally mentioned the Umno supreme council chaired by occasion president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had determined that the Memorandum of Understanding between Putrajaya and Pakatan Harapan shouldn’t be continued.
However, Ahmad mentioned Umno will proceed supporting the tabling of the anti party-hopping Bill and it will not compromise with any events attempting to stall the proposed Bill.
“Umno’s stand is that the anti party-hopping Bill must be expedited in order to ensure the rights of voters,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ahmad mentioned one other Umno common meeting might be held on May 14 to hold out amendments to the occasion structure in relation to its occasion polls.
