Johor polls: State exco to be named only after MB is sworn in, says Dr Wee

JOHOR BARU: The new state government council members will only be announcement after the the Johor mentri besar is sworn in, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president mentioned the Election Commission had simply offered the official state election outcomes to the Johor Palace on Sunday (March 13).

“The standard practice is that Tuanku (Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar) will give his consent followed by the swearing-in of the mentri besar.

“That is the first process. Then comes the second process, which is to appoint the new exco line-up.

“It is still early days,” he mentioned at a press convention with newly-elected state assemblymen from MCA right here.

Earlier, Dr Wee launched the assemblymen for the Yong Peng, Bekok, Pekan Nanas and Paloh state seats, saying that every one 4 gained their seats with a snug majority.

He additionally counseled the celebration’s Johor Jaya candidate Chan San San and Perling’s Tan Hiang Kee who misplaced with slim majorities.

“Chan only lost with a 1,922-vote difference against DAP’s two-term assemblyman and ex-exco member Liow Cai Tung.

“Tan also put up a good fight against Liew Chin Tong, who is seen as DAP’s master strategist and my former opponent in Ayer Hitam, whom I defeated.

“All the candidates who lost are still young and are encouraged to continue working hard for the people,” he added.
