Johor Sultan: All state MPs, reps must meet to discuss sudden Covid-19 surge

JOHOR BARU: Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar (pic) has decreed that a meeting should be held involving all state elected MPs and assemblymen in curbing the Covid-19 outbreak here.

His Majesty raised concern with Johor recording a spike in positive Covid-19 cases within the last few days with the state recording 699 cases on Wednesday (May 19).

“Government administrators, including all MPs and assemblymen in Johor, must play a role in ensuring the Covid-19 pandemic can immediately be curbed and at the same time, those affected by it must be helped, ” His Majesty decreed.

Sultan Ibrahim said this a statement, which was posted on His Majesty’s official Facebook page here on Thursday (May 20).

His Majesty added that he realised the Emergency Ordinance, which is currently being enforced, hindered any parliamentary and state assembly meetings from being held at the present moment.

“However, I feel that the services of MPs and assemblymen in Johor should be mobilised to help the rakyat affected from the pandemic.

“With that, I urged a discussion to be held through a meeting between all MPs and assemblymen from the state, which is chaired by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad, ” His Majesty said.

Sultan Ibrahim said through the discussion, all MPs and assemblymen can give their respective views and thoughts in curbing the Covid-19 pandemic and solve the problems faced by the people of Johor.
