JPJ investigating case involving driver who blocked ambulance

PETALING JAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has been instructed to research the case involving a driver who blocked the trail of an ambulance on the North-South Expressway (NSE), says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

“I have instructed the JPJ director-general to investigate the driver of this vehicle who is very inconsiderate,” the Transport Minister stated whereas sharing a video of the incident on his Facebook web page.

Dr Wee stated refusing to present strategy to an ambulance is an offence below the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).

“Strict action must be taken against the offender,” he added.

In a 38-second video clip that went viral on social media, a white-coloured MPV is seen blocking the ambulance although its siren and lights are on.

Kampar OCPD Supt Mohamad Nazri Daud was reported saying that “acceptable” motion had been taken in opposition to the 62-year-old man, who suffers from tinnitus or high-pitched ringing within the ears, attributable to an acoustic neuroma (a benign mind tumour).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who shared the video on his Twitter account, had described the driver as egocentric.
