PETALING JAYA: No compound notices will be issued to those who do not turn up for their vaccination appointments, or parents of children who contract Covid-19, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programma coordinating minister said that no fines will be issued to vaccine no-shows, adding that those on the waiting list would be called up instead to prevent the wastage of vaccines.
“We have made plans at the district and state level on how not to waste the vaccines. We make use of the waiting list and call them up.
“We have made a decision to send the list of all the appointments ahead of time to the states and districts so that they can call up those with vaccine appointments to attend.
“On whether compound notices will be issued, at this time we will keep communicating with them and encourage them to attend their appointments.
“Compound notices are only the ‘last resort’, if we were ever to do it, ” Khairy said in a press conference Monday (May 31).
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba also said that compound notices will not be issued towards parents whose children contracted the Covid-19 virus.
He, however, said that investigation papers may be opened if there was deliberate violation of the standard operating procedure.
“We will give advice, and we won’t issue compound notices. But parents who violate the SOP or who still expose their children to the virus, we can open investigation papers to assess, ” he said at the same press conference.
He said more than 60,000 children were found to have contracted the Covid-19 virus, as of last week.
