KUALA LUMPUR: Police have advised residents living in the 14 localities here under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) to check and obtain information with officers on duty within their areas.

City police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim also encouraged the public to go to their respective control posts if any confusion or problems arise.

“The government has implemented the EMCO at these localities to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“To facilitate the affairs of residents in these areas, we advise them to check and obtain information with the officers on duty,” he said in a statement on Sunday (July 4).

He said this was to prevent residents from getting inaccurate information.

“Police would also like to emphasise the specific standard operating procedure in Kuala Lumpur which allows residents to leave relevant areas for reasons involving security, health, emergencies and welfare.

“Residents who have vaccination appointments are also allowed to go to vaccination centres,” he said.

Comm Azmi, however, said residents wearing pink bracelets who are waiting for results of screening tests are not allowed to go out for vaccination.

He thanked the community for their cooperation.

“We must work together to curb the spread of Covid-19. Those with any information or queries can contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or go to the nearest police station,” he said.
