Lebanese president sends electoral regulation amendments again to parliament

(Reuters) – Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Friday despatched a regulation amending legislative election guidelines again to parliament for reconsideration, the presidency stated in an announcement.

The event may have an effect on Lebanon’s capability to carry an election on the March 27 date agreed to this week.

Lebanon’s parliament had voted on Tuesday to carry an election at the moment, giving Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s authorities just a few months to attempt to safe an IMF restoration plan amid a deepening financial meltdown.

“The brand new amendments to the electoral regulation went past being only a advice,” President Aoun stated within the assertion.
