TRIPOLI, April 17 (Xinhua) — Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) declared a state of force majeure over the El Feel oil field on Sunday as protesters pressured the closure of the nation’s major oil field.
A gaggle of protesters stormed the oil field and compelled the employees to cease manufacturing, the NOC mentioned in a press release.
Operated by Italy’s power big Eni and the NOC, the El Feel oil field produces about 70,000 barrels of crude oil per day (bpd), out of the nationwide 1.2 million bpd, in response to authorities figures.
Oil and gasoline characterize a major supply of Libya’s income. However, the sector has suffered over the previous years from armed battle and closures of oil fields and ports.
