Local companies donate RM290K to SDRF

KUCHING: Two local-based companies -¬ Hubline Berhad and Supreme Consolidated Resources Bhd – have joined in the fight against Covid-19 by donating RM290,000 to the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF).

The donation was presented to Deputy Chief Minister and State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas by the vice-chairman of both companies Datuk Richard Wee at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.

Hubline Berhad, a Bursa Malaysia listed company with interest in the shipping industry, contributed RM150,000 to SDRF to provide essential medical supplies and equipment for healthcare professionals as well as frontliners who put their lives at risk battling the pandemic.

Out of the amount, the company donated RM100,000 and its directors Wee, Royston Ling (alternate director) and Dennis Ling (managing director) contributed RM50,000.

Supreme Consolidated Resources Bhd, a company that deals with import, trading, and distribution of frozen, chilled, dairy, and dry food products, donated RM140,000 including RM40,000 from the directors Wee and Lim Ah Ted.

Wee said the company hoped their contribution would help ease the burden of the state government and Health Ministry in purchasing medical equipment, medicine, disposable items, and other medical necessities.

“We hope that our small contribution will encourage more Sarawakian companies to come forward to stand together with our state government in fighting this unprecedented Covid-19 crisis,” he said.
