WASHINGTON/HELSINKI (Reuters) – Finland has chosen U.S. defence big Lockheed Martin’s F-35 fighters in a young to switch ageing F/A-18 fight jets, a source aware of the matter advised Reuters on Friday.
Lockheed Martin competed for the cope with Sweden’s Saab, U.S. rival Boeing, France’s Dassault and Britain’s BAE Systems.
The Finnish authorities mentioned earlier it will announce its alternative at a information convention afterward Friday.
The authorities has accredited a finances of 10 billion euros for the acquisition out of which 9.4 billion euros can be used to purchase the warplanes themselves.
