The Music Authors Copyright Protection (MACP) Berhad is in talks to extend the copyright period for the works of the late Tan Sri P Ramlee, which can finish subsequent 12 months.
MACP common supervisor Mary Yap stated this was as a result of in accordance to the Copyright Act 1987, the present copyright period is 50 years after the deaths of the work creators.
“This period is lengthy. Like Tan Sri P Ramlee’s songs which copyright period will expire late subsequent 12 months and we’re in discussions to extend it.
“We are in discussions with the authorities to extend the copyright period,” she stated after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ipoh City Council (MBI) and MACP on the MBI constructing yesterday (July 5).
Separately, concerning the MoU, Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin stated MBI is the primary native authority to receive a license for RadioTV MBI (RTBI).
“The strategic and robust cooperation signed in this MoU ensures that RTBI and occasions organised by MBI have a legitimate license from MACP,” he stated.
MACP is a collective administration organisation that represents music copyright homeowners reminiscent of composers, songwriters, lyricists and music producers. – Bernama
