Malaysia records RM114.28bil corporate bonds and sukuk issuances in 2021

KUALA LUMPUR: The whole issuances of corporate bonds and sukuk in Malaysia elevated by 9.28 per cent to RM114.28 billion in 2021 from RM104.58 billion issued in 2020, the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) stated.

In its Annual Report 2021 launched at present, the SC stated it has obtained 72 lodgements below the Lodge and Launch Framework and authorised 4 functions for issuances of corporate bonds and sukuk as in contrast with 64 lodgements beforehand.

It stated ringgit-denominated corporate bonds and sukuk points continued to kind the vast majority of the proposals authorised by/lodged with the SC with a complete nominal worth of RM162.83 billion, of which, 88.58 per cent or RM144.23 billion have been sukuk.

“The whole variety of ringgit-denominated corporate bonds and sukuk authorised by/lodged with the SC with tenures of 1 to seven years and greater than 15 years elevated by 110 per cent and 9.76 per cent respectively.

“There was a lower of 11.11 per cent in the whole variety of ringgit-denominated corporate bonds and sukuk with tenures starting from eight to fifteen years,” it stated.

The SC stated a complete of 63 rankings have been assigned by credit standing companies to ringgit-denominated corporate bonds and sukuk points lodged with the regulator final 12 months.

On take over and mergers, the SC stated it has thought of 79 functions in 2021 below the Rules on Take-overs, Mergers and Compulsory Acquisitions regulation in contrast with 80 functions in 2020.

“A complete of 18 provide paperwork have been cleared in 2021, involving a complete provide worth of RM8.59 billion or a mean of RM477.17 million per provide, which represented a rise of RM5.1 billion towards the earlier 12 months,” it stated.

In 2020, the SC cleared a complete of 25 provides paperwork with a complete provide worth of RM3.49 billion or a mean of RM139.57 million per provide.

The SC stated in 2021 the scheme in relation to MMC Corporation Bhd was the biggest provide at RM2.94 billion in provide worth, representing 34 per cent of the whole provide worth for the 12 months.

Other notable provides in phrases of provide values included FGV Holdings Bhd and IJM Plantations Bhd, each of which have been listed in the plantations sector of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd with provide values of RM2.35 billion and RM1.2 billion respectively.

Meanwhile, the SC stated there have been 23 fairness functions for consideration in 2021, of which, 13 have been thought of, three have been withdrawn whereas the remaining seven can be thought of in 2022.

It stated of the 13 fairness functions thought of, eight have been for the Initial Public Offering (IPOs) on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia with a complete market capitalisation of RM9.14 billion.

It added that the estimated quantity of funds raised from these IPOs was RM3.51 billion. – Bernama
