GEORGE TOWN: A person was discovered drowned near the ferry terminal at Weld Quay right here after falling into the sea on Friday (Jan 21).
He was initially seen struggling to remain afloat whereas members of the general public tried to rescue him.
Lebuh Pantai Fire and Rescue Department operations officer Mohd Rizal Abu Bakar stated they headed to the scene after reviews had been obtained from the general public round 3.15pm.
“They reported that the person sank beneath the floor after struggling and we carried out a search from the jetty.
“At 4.03pm, somebody reported that they’d discovered a physique below the jetty.
“The physique was retrieved and handed over to police,” he stated.
