PETALING JAYA (Bernama): A man was sentenced to seven months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here Tuesday (June 22) for threatening his mother with a knife.
Magistrate M. Barath handed down the sentence to R. Mahendran, 23, after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The offence was committed after his mother, P. Kalaivaini, 50, refused to give Mahendran money to buy drugs.
He committed the offence in their apartment at Pelangi Damansara, PJU 6, Persiaran Surian here at 9pm on June 18 and was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which provided a maximum jail term of seven years, or fine, or both, if convicted.
The court also ordered him to serve the sentence from the day of his arrest on June 20. – Bernama
