KUALA LUMPUR: Digital services and connectivity solutions provider Maxis has launched the Maxis Awards to recognise and empower innovative Malaysian enterprises which help the nation by driving positive change.
Brand and marketing head Tai Kam Leong said the programme was designed to support and encourage impactful ideas to accelerate the nation’s progress, with RM5 million dedicated to the development and promotion of 12 Malaysian-based projects in the next 12 months.
“The goal is that we want to accelerate and amplify ideas and projects that will enable Malaysian communities to be ahead, and communities to be inspired and be more effective,” he told a virtual press conference today.
He said winners would be selected based on the three important criteria — value to community, innovative and tech-enabled — and would receive grants and Maxis Business solutions expertise to help bring their ideas to life.
“We are looking for ideas and innovation that not only are new, but also involve a strong use of technology and, most importantly, have impact — how beneficial they are for the society,” said Tai.
The award programme is currently implemented in partnership with Gen.T, a platform by Tatler Asia.
Meanwhile, to create a sustainable programme, Tai said, the award programme would also be done in partnership with other individuals and organisations that share a similar philosophy.
“Through a partnership approach to find and enable these heroes, we are putting our respective strengths together towards a common goal.
“There is no better timing than now to introduce the award as society faces pandemic-related challenges and changes,” Tai added.
According to him, Maxis intends to work continuously on the annual initiative.
