MCO violations: 939 fined, 47 remanded on Wednesday (June 2)


PETALING JAYA: A total of 939 individuals were issued compound notices while 47 others were remanded for movement control order (MCO) violations on Wednesday (June 2).

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said among the violations committed were not wearing face masks (218), interstate/interdistrict travel and dining in (196), failure to register particulars before entering a premises (135), ferrying too many passengers (127), no physical distancing (125), not complying with movement restrictions (68), entertainment outlet activities (35), premises’ failure to comply with orders (12), and 71 miscellaneous offences.

“The compliance operations task force led by the police, comprising 18,977 operatives divided into 5,065 teams, conducted 83,842 checks.

“Meanwhile under Ops Benteng, 11 foreigners were arrested with one vehicle seized,” he said in a statement on Thursday (June 3), adding that 916 roadblocks were set up nationwide.

On sanitisation operations, he said 165 were conducted involving 68 red zones, one orange zone, one yellow zone and one green zone.

“The operations were conducted by 900 members of the Fire and Rescue Department and 176 from local governments, involving 155 fire engines.

“Cumulatively, 26,207 sanitisation operations have been conducted since March 30 involving 156 zones,” he said.

On screening of foreign workers, Ismail Sabri said 102 were screened on Wednesday with one testing positive for Covid-19.

“Cumulatively, 698,186 workers have been screened involving 36,145 employers. In total 10,322 tested positive,” he said.
