Medical experts to visit Sarawak


KUCHNG: A team of medical experts on combating Covid-19 from China will be in Kuching on April 26 for a three-day visit.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said Sarawak would welcome the experts, who managed to contain the pandemic in their home country.

The team of eight persons hail from Guangdong, China and are experts in their own fields, ranging from traditional Chinese medicine, nursing, respiratory, intensive care, infection, data analysis and virology.

The experts arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

It is reported that they are sharing their experience and expertise on fighting Covid-19 with their Malaysian counterparts, which may help the nation’s fight against the pandemic.

“Looking forward to welcome the eight medical experts to Kuching on April 26,” Dr Sim wrote in a Facebook posting on Saturday night.

“Thank you very much to Ministry of Health Malaysia, Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching for making their three-day trip to Kuching possible during their duration of stay in Malaysia,” he added.

The delegation will be led by Dr Li Jun, chief physician of the Integrated Chinese and Western Emergency Medicine and vice-president of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The other members are associate chief physician of the intensive care unit at Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital Dr Wen Miaoyun, director of the Nosocomial Infection Control Department Dr Zhang Youping and associate chief physician of Respiratory, Critical Medicine Department Dr Yang Shifang, associate chief physician of Infection Department Dr Luo Xiaodan, senior psychologist Dr Liu Xiangxin, chief physician of Guangdong Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention Dr Liu Tao and associate chief technician in Virology and deputy director of General Study Office of Guangdong Provincial Institute of Public Health Dr Sun Jiufeng.
