MELAKA: The state government will not comment on Federal-level political issues and will instead focus their attention on the well-being of people in the state, says Datuk Seri Idris Haron.

The rural development, flood management and green technology executive councillor said state government officials were prioritising two issues – flood mitigation and advancing to Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

“We (state executive councillors) have been told to put aside politics and our differences in a bid to address these issues without issuing statements on the current political situation.

“We also do not mind working with the Opposition in the state for the sake of the people, especially to slash the number of Covid-19 cases in the state,” he said on Monday (Aug 2).

Earlier, Idris chaired a meeting on a flood mitigation programme that was attended by Ayer Keroh assemblyman Kerk Chee Yee (DAP) and several top state officials.

Idris said politicians should work together to overcome difficulties and work together to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“Many locals are facing hardships and the importance must be on protecting the health and lives of people as well as planning the post-pandemic socio-economic development,” he said.
