Melaka govt proposes those entering state need to show swab test results, travel permits at roadblocks

MELAKA: The Melaka government has proposed for Covid-19 swab test results to be shown together with travel permits at roadblocks before individuals are allowed to enter the state during the movement control order period.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said the proposal was tabled during a virtual National Security Council (NSC) meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Monday (May 31), which also saw participation from mentris besar and chief ministers from all states.

“The aim of showing the swab test results is to prevent positive Covid-19 cases from entering Melaka.

“We also proposed for those who have permission for interstate travels to also bring along their swab test results when travelling,” he said on Tuesday (June 1).

Sulaiman said NSC’s technical committee would make the final decision on whether to accept the proposal by the state government.

He said Melaka witnessed several clusters linked to interstate travels, and decided to have pre-emptive measures to prevent the rise of new clusters.
