Melaka restaurant raided for selling food to those skipping fasting

MELAKA: Enforcement officers from the Melaka Religious Department (JAIM) raided a restaurant at Taman Peringgit right here for supplying meals to those “ponteng puasa” (skipping the quick) throughout Ramadan.

JAIM director Datuk Che Sukri Che Mat stated the raid was initiated after his workforce noticed the restaurant for a number of days.

“The restaurant provided food to people as early as 8am and two restaurant helpers had been assigned to ship the food packets to their shoppers,” he stated on Friday (April 8).

Che Sukri stated the food packets had been delivered to the people ready inside their vehicles in a bid to evade the authorities.

He stated the restaurant was among the many 80 hotspots within the state recognized because the locations frequented by those skipping the quick.

Che Sukri stated notices had been issued to seven employees and the proprietor of the restaurant – aged between 24 and 63 – underneath Section 49 of the Melaka Syariah Criminal Law Enactment 1991.
