BALING (Bernama): The Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry will research a proposal to extend the ground value of scrap rubber to RM3.50 per kg to extend the revenue of smallholders within the nation, says its minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.

She stated the ministry would additionally talk about the matter with the Malaysian Rubber Board and the Rural Growth Ministry.

“The Rubber Business Smallholders Growth Authority (Risda) chairman had voiced the proposal to me and we have to sit down and talk about the matter,” she stated at a press convention after a dialogue with 150 smallholders right here Sunday (Oct 17).

On Friday (Oct 15), the media reported that the federal government had been urged to contemplate elevating the ground value of scrap rubber to RM3.50 per kg starting January 2022 to assist enhance the revenue of rubber tappers to above the poverty stage.
