More than 100 homes burned by forest fire on the Chilean island of Chiloe

SANTIAGO (Reuters) – More than 100 homes have been burned by a forest fire that unfold to the city of Castro on the vacationer island of Chiloe, off southern Chile, native officers mentioned on Friday.

The fire was introduced below management in a single day, though small areas have been nonetheless smoldering, Interior Ministry official Alejandro Verges mentioned.

“We are eradicating particles and placing out small remaining sources of fire. Fortunately, in a single day it was potential to include the blaze,” Verges mentioned.

The Chiloe archipelago is positioned about 1,000 km (600 miles) south of the capital metropolis, Santiago.
