JOHOR BAHRU: Puteri Wangsa candidate Amira Aisya says she hopes for a ‘more healthy’ political tradition within the nation amidst claims that her electoral supplies had been vandalised.
The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) secretary-general mentioned she wouldn’t again down, as she needed to advertise “mature politics” amongst locals.
She claimed one other of her billboards was discovered vandalised on Saturday (March 5), days after she reported the primary vandalism incident on Feb 28.
“We will lodge a police report,” mentioned Amira throughout a joint press convention with DAP’s Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh right here on Saturday (March 5).
“This is precisely why I joined politics – which is to make sure that these behaviours aren’t normalised.
“We hope to have a more healthy political struggle in Puteri Wangsa,” she mentioned.
In Puteri Wangsa, Amira is locked in a six-cornered struggle between Parti Pejuang Tanah Air’s Dr Khairil Anwar Razali, Perikatan Nasional’s Loh Kah Yong, Parti Bangsa Malaysia’s Steven Choong, Barisan Nasional’s Ng Yew Aik and Independent candidate Adzrin Adam.
Puteri Wangsa has 112,804 registered voters.
In the 14th General Election in 2018, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s Mazlan Bujang gained beneath a Pakatan Harapan ticket after garnering 37,545 votes in opposition to Umno’s 12,586 votes, PAS’ 2,654 votes, and two independents who garnered 544 and 116 votes respectively.
Mazlan won’t be defending the Puteri Wangsa seat.
Polling for the Johor state election is ready on March 12.
