Nationwide Youth Council raises questions over revision of age limits for youth organisations


GEORGE TOWN: The Nationwide Youth Council had expressed disappointment over the Youth and Sports activities Ministry’s choice to restrict the membership of youth organisations to people aged 15 to 30 years outdated.

Nationwide Youth Council vice-president and Penang president Lim Swee Bok mentioned there shouldn’t be a rush to amend the earlier 15 to 40 years outdated age bracket.

“Whereas we welcome such a transfer to allow extra youth to take part in youth organisations, it must be mentioned with all events.

“Moreover, an extended time interval must be given for all youth organisations to regulate to the brand new ruling fairly than placing it into impact on Jan 1.

Lim gave the instance of Constitutional amendments wanted to decrease the voting age to 18, which took a very long time.
