NIAMEY (Reuters) – Police in northern Niger have seized more than 200 kg of cocaine value round $8.7 million that was being transported within the native mayor’s official truck, two police sources mentioned on Monday.

The mayor and his driver, who had been within the automobile on the time, had been arrested with 199 bricks of cocaine at a checkpoint on the highway heading north out of the desert buying and selling hub of Agadez on Sunday, the sources mentioned.
