Nine foreign women, believed to be GROs, nabbed at a nightspot in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Nine foreign women believed to have been working as guest relations officers (GRO) were among 12 people detained in a raid at an entertainment outlet in Taman Shamelin Perkasa.

Nine others were issued with compound notices for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) by taking part in activities at a nightspot.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the foreign women arrested during the 10.20pm raid on Thursday (June 24) comprised two from Laos and seven from Vietnam.

“Besides the nine women, we detained a local man for playing an online gambling game at the outlet and two Bangladeshi men working there for not having valid documents.

“We also seized various items including sound system equipment and a mobile phone,” he said when contacted on Friday (June 25).

Nine local men at the scene were issued with compound notices, he added.

“Some of those detained also tested positive for drugs.

“They will be remanded to assist in investigations,” he said.

ACP Muhammad Idzam reminded the public to comply with the SOP and help break the chain of Covid-19 infections.
