ALOR GAJAH: The implementation of all infrastructure and housing projects underneath the Rural Development Ministry (KPLB) is not going to be postponed despite dealing with the rising price of raw supplies.

Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (pic) stated the reassurance was given despite the fact that the rising price of raw supplies had exceeded 15%.

“We are affected as the price of constructing supplies is rising because of Covid-19 and post-Covid-19 when the development sector is dealing with a scarcity of employees.

“So we’re ready for the Works Ministry on the brand new costs quickly,” he advised Bernama after officiating the closing of a administration course right here Tuesday (June 7).

He stated the projects which have been awarded, together with connecting roads at villages and housing underneath the ministry, would proceed as set whereas others would anticipate the brand new costs to be given by the Works Ministry.

“Now it’s inadequate to construct a Hardcore Poor Housing Project (PPRT) costing RM56,000 as many contractors have stated they’re unable to construct at that value and requested for a slight value improve.

“So we’re ready for the total report and hopefully the federal government will improve a bit. What we have to do is to attend for the choice by the Works Ministry,” he stated. -Bernama
