No new cases reported in Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak did not record any new Covid-19 positive cases yesterday, meaning the total number of positive cases still remains at 544.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said there were nine recoveries and they had been discharged from hospitals.

“Of these cases, eight were from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one from Sibu Hospital. This brings the total number of Covid-19 recoveries to 399 or at 73.35 percent,” he said at a press conference held at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here yesterday.

Apart from that, the number of person-under-investigation (PUI) cases reported yesterday was 64, and the total number of PUIs awaiting laboratory results was 55.

He further said that a total of 2,161 locations were monitored, comprising supermarkets (270), restaurants (372), factories (32), banks (209), government offices (75), farmers markets (284), places of worship (77), leisure places (46), construction sites (17) and others (779).

He added, “To date, 25,583 notices of opening of economic sectors have been received. Of these, 18,083 were via online and 7,500 by email.”

Also present yesterday were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing.
