KUALA LUMPUR: The government has confirmed that there has been no decision to sell Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Subang Airport (LTSAAS) despite rumours over such a proposal reported in the media.
In separate statements, the Transport Ministry and Finance Ministry said the government has no plan to sell any part of the airport to the private sector.
However, the Transport Ministry noted that the government does not bar any parties from submitting proposals to redevelop existing projects or developing new assets.
“The operating rights as well as rights under the Leased Agreement granted to Malaysia Airports Holdings
Berhad (MAHB) to operate, manage and maintain including to occupy, use and control LTSAAS remain valid until 2034 and 2067 respectively.
“MAHB is responsible to develop LTSAAS as an international aerospace hub as per the Cabinet decision of 2 March 2005. No decision has been made to alter this condition,” said the Transport Ministry.
MAHB is responsible for initiatives to develop LTSAAS’s assets. The airport operator entered into a sub-lease concession agreement with Subang Skypark Sdn Bhd for 30 years to 2037, which includes the operating of Terminal 3, the car park and hangarage.
“The Government understands and reiterates that great care and deliberation are needed before any final decision is made regarding a significant strategic public asset that affects thousands of Malaysians, such as LTSAAS.
“The public is urged to cease propagating further misinformation on this matter or action will be taken against the parties responsible,” said the Transport Ministry.
