(Reuters) – Swede Sara Hector emerged as the chief of the ladies’s giant slalom after the occasion’s first run in Slovenia’s Kranjska Gora on Saturday following poor runs by general World Cup chief Mikaela Shiffrin and final season’s champion Petra Vlhova.
American Shiffrin and Slovakia’s Vlhova struggled on the robust higher half of the course and Hector took benefit to leap into pole place as she raced down in 1:07.23 minutes, with second-placed Tessa Worley of France 0.08 seconds off the tempo.
Italy’s Marta Bassino in third was an extra 0.15 seconds behind, with 14th-placed Shiffrin 1.48 seconds off the tempo and Fifteenth-placed Vlhova 1.51 seconds behind the chief.
Shiffrin will head into Sunday’s slalom on the identical venue aiming to set a brand new file for many wins in a single self-discipline, as she is tied with former Swedish males’s nice Ingemar Stenmark who gained 46 giant slaloms throughout his 1974-1989 profession.
