KOTA TINGGI: A complete of 53 summonses amounting to virtually RM16,000 have been issued by the police to motorists for chopping queues and working by means of pink lights at Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang right here.
Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora mentioned that the summonses had been issued by the Kota Tinggi traffic investigation and enforcement division on Sunday (Jan 23) underneath “Ops Potong Q dan Lampu Merah”.
“We set up a roadblock at Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang near RHD restaurant and at Jalan Tun Sri Lanang, here.
“Our target is those who disobey road safety regulations by running through red traffic lights and selfish drivers who turn a blind eye to other road users’ safety, especially during peak hours,” he mentioned in an announcement right here.
He added that reckless actions disrupt traffic movement and may result in accidents.
“The enforcement is conducted not only to take action but to increase awareness of road users that selfish acts can result in unfortunate consequences.
“We also issued another 22 summonses totalling RM3,300 for other offences like not wearing seat belts, driving with an expired road tax, among others,” he mentioned.
Supt Hussin added that the operation could be performed once in a while to remind the general public to all the time obey highway legal guidelines and to be accountable highway customers.
