Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix was overcome by emotion after ending sixth within the ladies’s 10m platform diving ultimate.
The 19-year-old was bidding to turn out to be the primary British girl to win two (*11*) diving medals, having taken bronze alongside Lois Toulson within the synchronised occasion.
But she was unable to succeed in these ranges once more, with Chinese pair Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi producing one other dominant show to win gold and silver.
Visibly emotional as she was consoled following her ultimate dive, Spendolini-Sirieix instructed BBC Sport: “I’m simply pleased that I’m alive.
“Three years in the past I did not even need to be alive. Today I’m simply pleased that I’m alive, I’m respiration and I’ve obtained my household to help me.”
