Penang CM: Keep Pikas and public vaccine supplies steady but separate

GEORGE TOWN: A steady and sufficient supply of Covid-19 vaccines is needed to ensure the smooth running of concurrent immunisation programmes running in Penang, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow (pic).

“New approvals for Covid-19 vaccine dispensing under the Public-Private Partnership Industrial Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (Pikas) should be followed by sufficient supply of vaccines to ensure smooth running of the initiative,” he said in a statement on Friday (July 2).

He added that the matter would be raised at a meeting with the National Security Council where the state will stress that the supply of vaccines for Pikas should be kept separate from the supply for public vaccination centres.

Chow said a letter on the matter has been sent to the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and International Trade and Industry Ministry.
