Penang cops arrest another suspect in probe into break-in at MBPP mayor’s official residence

GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested another suspect in the probe on an alleged house break-in at the official residence of Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang on Saturday (June 12).

This brings to five the number of suspects detained so far.

State police chief Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abdul Manan said the 32-year-old suspect was detained at an area in Balik Pulau early this morning.

On Saturday (June 12), four men allegedly broke into the official residence at Jalan Park at about 5.30am.

The suspects are aged between 25 and 37 years old and were detained on the mainland side of Penang.

Among the items stolen during the incident were a mobile phone, a laptop, a car and SG$5,000 (RM15,500).

The case is being investigated under Sections 457 and 379A of the Penal Code.
