Penang Hill train breaks down again, 4WD vehicles used to ferry stranded holidaymakers

GEORGE TOWN: More than 1,000 holidaymakers have been stranded on Penang Hill after the funicular train broke down on the Upper Station on Sunday (Dec 12) night time.

The breakdown occurred after the funicular train system skilled an error and the guests had to be taken down by 4WD vehicles to the Botanical Gardens.

It is learnt that Rapid Penang buses have been ready to ferry the stranded passengers again to the Lower Station.

The incident occurred at about 7pm and the evacuation course of ended at about 11.30pm in spite of everything passengers have been introduced down safely.

This is the third time the favored funicular train broke down after it skilled technical glitches in October and November.
