PETALING JAYA: A man has been detained for allegedly uploading a video on YouTube which insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Acting Bukit Aman CID director Deputy Comm Datuk Dev Kumar MM Sree confirmed that Iswardy Mordy was arrested at his house in Kajang on Saturday (May 29) night.

“Yes, I can confirm this,” he said, adding that the arrest was made on Saturday night.

Iswardy, who is a PKR member, was arrested in his house in Kajang at around 11pm.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that Iswardy is a normal party member registered with the Petra Jaya branch in Sarawak and does not hold any leadership position at the state or federal level.

He said Iswardy’s remarks do not reflect PKR’s stand, which upholds the Institution of Malay Rulers, as mentioned in the party constitution,

Fahmi also said Iswardy’s controversial speeches had been brought up and discussed in PKR’s political bureau meeting.

He said it was decided in April that a stern warning would be issued to Iswardy.

“The party also gave a warning that it would not hesitate to take stern action, including sacking him, if he repeated the same behaviour,” he said.

“However, because the video has now become a police case, PKR will wait for the findings of the investigation before taking further action on him,” he added.
