JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a 27-year-old man who was involved in a hit-and-run incident with a motorcyclist in Taman Kota Masai here.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the suspect, who does not possess a driver’s licence, had swerved into an opposing lane in Jalan Rambai where the motorcyclist was travelling at around 2pm on Monday (May 31).
He said the motorcyclist was heading towards Jalan Jambu from Kota Masai 2 when he was hit by the car, which left the scene after the incident.
“We arrested the suspect at his home in Taman Kota Masai at around 5.30pm and brought him to the Seri Alam police headquarters for investigations.
“The suspect was said to be driving while he was sleepy, which caused him to drive against traffic and hit the motorcycle,” he said.
He added that the 34-year-old motorcyclist was being treated for his injuries including a broken right leg at Hospital Sultan Ismail.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he added.
Supt Mohd Sohaimi advised road users to abide by the law at all times.
