Police will accept expired letters from ministries until end of lockdown on June 28


PUTRAJAYA: Letters from relevant ministries and agencies which expired on June 14 will still be accepted by the police until the end of the extended nationwide lockdown on June 28, says the Home Ministry.

“Police carrying out enforcement activities will accept letters and permits to travel until the end of the lockdown on June 28, even though the letters expire on June 14,” its minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said at a press conference on Saturday (June 12).

He said these involved letters issued by 12 ministries and agencies for those providing essential services.

These include the International Trade and Industry Ministry, Transport Ministry, Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry, Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, Communications and Multimedia Ministry and the Home Ministry.

Others are the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry, Housing and Local Government Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, Bank Negara, Securities Commission and the police.

The National Security Council decided on Friday (June 11) to extend the lockdown after considering the high number of daily cases still being reported.
