Rescuers find body of second boy drowned while swimming in Johor’s Sg Masai

PASIR GUDANG: The body of the second boy who drowned while swimming in Sungai Masai, close to Jalan Masai Utama right here, has been discovered.

Johor Fire and Rescue Department Zone 1 operation commander Hamdan Ismail stated the body of Mohd Ahlan Kiram, 14, was discovered at 10.32pm while the primary sufferer, Sharif Mohd Sharizan Sabri, 11, was discovered at 9.18pm.

Both victims have been reported lacking at about 6.15pm on Sunday (Jan 16) on the river, which is positioned about 500m from their home in Flat Masai Utama.

“From our preliminary report, witnesses claimed that the victims had gone out to play across the river with 4 different buddies.

“Both our bodies have been positioned 2m other than each other and have been recovered from a depth of 5m deep in the river,” he stated.

He added {that a} whole of 36 officers and personnel have been deployed to the situation to conduct the rescue operations.

“The rescue workforce was from the Pasir Gudang hearth station, the Skudai Water Rescue Unit, and the Pasir Gudang police station,” he stated, including that the operation ended at about 11pm Sunday.

The body of the sufferer has been handed over to the police to be dropped at Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI).
