‘Robot chef’ cooks up veggie burgers at Israel restaurant


HERZLIYA: A quick meals restaurant is serving up a veggie steak made and cooked by a robotic that tailors substances and cooking time to buyer tastes.

“It’s the first time that a machine is making a personalised hamburger by itself,” stated Racheli Vizman, CEO of SavorEat, an Israeli start-up that specialises in meat options.

Customers can use an app to decide on the quantity of vegetable protein or fats of their “steak”, in addition to its dimension and the way they need it cooked, she stated.

The “robot chef”, which is the dimensions of a big oven, could make three completely different steaks concurrently – although a human employees member makes up the burgers.

It mixes substances together with beans, potatoes and chickpeas to create a texture that “resembles that of real meat”, stated Vizman, who began the enterprise in 2018 together with two professors from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The steaks at the BBB restaurant within the coastal metropolis of Herzliya are cooked inside minutes, she stated, including that they comprise no animal proteins and are kosher.

“We hope to respond to the cravings of vegetarians, vegans and flexitarians,” who sometimes eat meat, BBB’s Ahuva Turgeman stated.
